September marks Perimenopause Awareness Month, a time to shed light on a stage of life that touches every woman yet is still often misunderstood. Knowledge is empowering, and by talking more openly about perimenopause, we can help women feel better prepared, supported, and confident.

What is Perimenopause?

Perimenopause is the natural transition leading up to menopause, usually beginning in a woman’s 40s (though it can start earlier). It can last several years and is often marked by hormonal shifts that affect the body and mind. Common signs include irregular cycles, hot flashes, mood swings, bloating, sleep disturbances, and changes in energy levels.

While every woman’s experience is unique, awareness is key. Understanding what’s happening allows us to take small, meaningful steps toward balance.

Why Awareness Matters

Too often, we enter perimenopause with little knowledge of what to expect. This lack of awareness can make symptoms feel confusing or even overwhelming. By raising awareness, we not only normalise the conversation but also empower ourselves to seek support, embrace lifestyle changes, and care for ourselves with intention.

Daily Rituals to Support Wellbeing

Perimenopause doesn’t have to be a struggle. Gentle daily rituals can make a big difference in how we feel:

  • Eat well: Fuel your body with nourishing whole foods—like leafy greens, soy, nuts, fish, and whole grains—and keep hydrated.
  • Move daily: Light exercise, yoga, or walks help maintain balance and energy.
  • Calm the mind: Stress-reducing practices like meditation or journaling support emotional well-being.
  • Herbal support: Ingredients like Moringa (rich in nutrients to boost energy and vitality), Turmeric (with anti-inflammatory properties that support joint and overall health), and Sage (traditionally used to ease hot flashes and support cognitive balance) can naturally help the body through perimenopause.

This Perimenopause Awareness Month, let’s continue to break the silence. By sharing knowledge and embracing simple, nurturing rituals, we can feel empowered and supported through every stage of the journey.

At Niyodo Blossom, we believe women’s health deserves to be at the heart of every conversation. Our mission is to empower women to nurture balance, well-being, and confidence at every stage of life. Knowledge is empowering. We encourage you to explore this topic and start the conversation with your community and healthcare professionals.
